Angry Indians Trend #BoycottAmazon

Global e-commerce giant Amazon has faced the wrath of angry Indians after some of its Indian customers found out that Amazon is selling doormats which have prints of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Upset with Amazon, Indian netizens have been trending the #BoycottAmazon hashtag on Facebook and Twitter since Saturday night. However, Amazon didn’t limit itself to selling Hindu gods doormats as the website also kept Islamic and Jesus Christ themed doormats for sale, which angered the Muslims and Christians.

However, Amazon had to pay the price for the act of its retailer named Rock Bull, which has been notorious for selling daily goods and other electronic devices with religious symbols. As the pressure started mounting, Amazon began taking down the controversial items from its portal.

In 2014, Amazon found itself into a similar controversy after a Hindu religious leader alleged that the site had put up women’s leggings with images of several Hindu Gods for sale.
