Plot summary

Manam is a story of four sisters Alekya, Anushka, Devyani and Priya who live with their father Narayana shastri in kanpur. Alka is in love with a guy named Rajiv. As narayan shastri gets a transfer so the whole family moves to delhi. There they live on rent on the upper story of shastri ji’s friend Surinder Sareen’s house. Sareen family consists of Surinder his wife Mintakshi aka Minty and their sons Neel and Rajat who is in army and enters the show later.

Minty and Neel don’t like the sisters and try to throw them out of the house but fail. Soon shastri ji fixes Alka’s marriage with Rohan. Although alka’s ex lover Rajiv comes to delhi to be with her but Alka realises that he is not good for her and gets married to Rohan. Meanwhile Rajat comes back home and Devyani has a love at first sight with him but later on rajat falls in love with anushka and anushka also falls for him. Meanwhile Neel falls in love with Devyani and proposes to her but devyani politely rejects him. Neel gets heartbroken and tries to commit suicide for her but is saved. Minty starts to hate the sisters and plans to take neel’s revenge. She creates misunderstandings and gets devyani and rajat engaged. Both anu and rajat are unhappy with this. Later rajat gets to know the reality and breaks his engagement with devyani and expresses his love for anushka. Devyani agrees for their engagement but anu denies to get engaged to him as devyani still loves him. Then enters Karishma who was rajat’s college friend and loves him. She creates misunderstandings between anu and rajat with Aastha’s help who is rohan’s bhabi and enemy of the sisters. Jealous with anu karishma steals an important CD of rajat’s office and hides it in anu’s cupboard. Rajat’s head officers search for the CD and find it in anu’s room and rajat gets suspended from duty. Karishma’s father saves rajat on the term that he marries karishma. Rajat under pressure agrees but on their marriage day due to some misunderstandings anu and rajat get married. Later with neel’s help anu and devyani prove karishma guilty and anu and rajat’s marriage preparations start but due to minty’s harsh words shastri ji gets a heart attack and asks anu not to marry rajat. He asks her to marry Veer who is rajat’s childhood friend but when he gets to know that anu and rajat love each other he unites them and anu and rajat get married again. Neel decides to take revenge on devyani for rejecting him and he makes her fall in love with him. Then when they get close Aastha records them and plays the video with neel’s face blurred and only devyani’s face but later alka and anu prove that guy to be neel and neel and devyani’s marriage preparations start but due to minty’s plan neel gets married to her friend’s daughter Kajal who appears to be a sweet traditional girl but is actually a cunning girl who wants to take the sareen family’s money. Meanwhile problems arose in between rohan and alka due to aastha. Then kajal tries to kill anu, anu falls from the cliff but rajat reaches on time but leaves her hand instead of holding it.

A one year leap come in which a terrorist has swapped place with rajat and is living in the family. Neel is again in love with devyani but does not tells her and devyani and fake rajat get married. Anu is supposed to be dead but she is kept in aligarh by a phsyco doctor raghav. Anu somehow escapes from him and reaches delhi but sees devyani and fake rajat married. She enters the house as maid named mouni. Anu gets to know that the rajat living in sareen house is fake and fake rajat gets to know that the maid is anu after alot of drama anu and alka find the real rajat and bring him back home and anu identies the real rajat and the terrorrist is caught. Then another small leap takes place and anu and rajat get remarried on their 1 year marriage anniversary day and everything becomes well between Neel and devyani and Alka and Rohan. The show ends with everyone living happily ever after.
