Chinnamma Breaks Down

Sasikala Natarajan, called out of veneration by her supporters as ‘Chinnamma’, has today taken over as the General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). She broke down while speaking about her predecessor, mentor and close friend Jayalalithaa in her address to party workers.

“Amma is not with us now but I will make sure to follow her instituted principles while leading the AIADMK and make our party rule Tamil Nadu for the next 100 years,” Sasikala reportedly said while addressing party cadres.

Sasikala broke down while saying she had been with Amma since she was 29 and that she was her “life”.

Amidst the rumors that some party leaders and cadres were against her ascending the party’s throne, Sasikala said that the party’s cadres were its strength and that she has full confidence in receiving their support.

Sasikala was unanimously chosen to head the AIADMK at a party meeting held on Dec 29, as a result of the passing away of Jayalalithaa, Amma, earlier this month.
