It’s Official: Chinnamma Is AIADMK’s Chief

It’s official. After weeks long suspense following the shocking demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK party has finally passed a resolution today approving Jayaa’s close confidante Sasikala Natarajan as the party’s General Secretary.

AIADMK’s top leaders, including the Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and treasurer E Madhusudanan were among the general council meeting that passed the resolution, which was the first on the meeting’s agenda.

Ever since Jayalalithaa’s demise, there has been a huge buzz surrounding Sasikala becoming Jayaa’s successor in politics. A couple of days later, even CM Panneerselvam met Sasikala at Poes Garden and urged her to assume the party’s chief post.

The party’s General Council meeting also passed resolutions demanding to confer late Jayalalithaa with the Nobel prize for World Peace and Magsaysay Award. It is well-known that the party had already demanded the centre to confer Jayaa with the Bharat Ratna.
