Mahishti (IAST: Māhiṣmatī) is a primitive city in central India. It is mentioned in many ancient texts, and may have revived as much as the inscription of the archaic in the 13th century.

Mahishti became the most important city in the south of the state of Avanti, and was then the capital of the kingdom of Apuda. It is located on the banks of the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh today. However, its exact location is uncertain.
