The teaser opens with a recitation from Bhagavadgita which says that a soul doesn’t have death but only human body does. Then the scientific observation is quoted saying, irrespective of the weight of a human’s body, 21 grams gets reduced immediately after the death, which is credited to the departure of soul.
Since the release of the teaser, it has been trending on social media and everyone is wondering how the makers of EPC might have got their hands on this first ’21 grams’ concept. Well, a Hollywood film has already dealt with this theme and EPC makers might have got inspiration from that film.
“21 Grams” was a 2003 English film directed by Oscar Award winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Not just the title but the entire film revolves around the observation of loss of 21 grams in body weight immediately following death, to the departure of the immortal human soul.
It seems that in ‘Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada’, Nikhil’s love interest played by Hebah Patel dies but her soul remains around him and tries to interact with him. Inspired or not, makers of EPC should be commended for coming up with a unique subject instead of testing the patience of audiences with time-tested subjects.
