Ashok Gajapathi Raju, union minister for civil aviation, was at the receiving end when a senior Air India (AI) pilot took potshots at political leaders for lagging patriotism and wasting about 92 working hours of Parliament.
In a hard response to Gajapathi Raju’s letter to Air India employees, where the minister questioned the commitment of staff when compared with other aviation organizations, a senior pilot Subhashish Majumdar stroked with an open letter.
Expressing his anger against Parliament functioning, Majumdar said, “As a committed employee and an honest taxpayer, I’m constrained to point out that the recently concluded winter sessions of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were a complete washout due to continuous disruptions by your colleagues in Parliament. Almost, Ninety-two working hours were lost in Lok Sabha alone and hardly any business was transacted.”
“It could be because of existing politicians that our employees are failing to draw inspiration and work with commitment. If you lead by example, Indians citizens would probably gain some motivation out of it,” he stated by adding that our politicos are lacking commitment when compared with leaders across the world.
However, reacting to this letter, an Air India spokesperson said, ‘the company has nothing to do with his comments and we do see it as Majumdar’s personal opinion.’
