Kamal’s 60Cr Loss From 100 Cr Collections?

The controversies created by Kamal Haasan’s 2013 film ‘Vishwaroopam’ needs no introduction to movie lovers. Four year later, Kamal Haasan has now once again invoked that wound with his suspicious statement.

Kamal said that he lost Rs 60 crore on Vishwaroopam. His statement came as a big surprise as the film went on to collect 100 crore at worldwide box office and became the second highest grossing Tamil film at that time. Rumor is that Kamal is trying to get people’s sympathy which he can use when he forays into politics soon.

It may be recalled that the Tamil Nadu govt. headed by late Jayalalithaa stopped the release of Vishwaroopam for almost two weeks in 2013 in the wake of protests from some Muslim organizations against the film. Kamal, who also produced and directed the film, had tears in his eyes and threatened to leave India during a press meet after his film was banned from releasing in Tamil Nadu whereas it had a hassle free release in every other part of the world, even in some Muslim dominated nations.

Kamal’s earlier statements against Jayalalithaa were said to be the reason for her revenge against him. She however rubbished those rumors.

After Jaya’s death, Kamal has been taking indirect potshots against her and also making some controversial statements against the current AIADMK govt. He is accused by AIADMK cadre of falsely claiming to have lost 60 crore on Vishwaroopam only with the intention of maligning the image of Jaya and AIADMK.

There is another theory that Kamal has put an early check to AIADMK in his bid to clear the ground for the release of much delayed ‘Vishwaroopam 2’.
