While in Tollywood we have senior heroines like Rashi, Madhubala and others taking up character roles post their re-entry into films, but Bollywood hotties are thinking in a different line altogether.
Recently Aishwarya Rai has comeback to films and starred in Jazbaa first and then Sarabjit. The 40+ lady didn’t get a kick out of them nor a commercial hit. At the same time, we have Madhuri Dixit also starring in films like Ded Ishqiya and Gulab Gang as a leading lady at the age of 48 but failed to score a hit. There is no wrong in these yesteryear hot sirens taking up lead roles, but the way even their other contemporaries joining them sounds like crazy.
Other day we have seen 53-year-old Sridevi’s “Mom” teaser where she’s seen as a mom who takes revenge and situations into hand regarding her daughter. At the same time 42-year-old Raveena Tandon’s “Maatr” features her as a rape victim who takes the law into hands. Whether these films work at the box office or not is a different thing, but all these senior and retired heroines want to become heroes now.
To pull off such feats, apart from the content the charisma of these heroines should work big time. Can they really stand tall and become a hero after crossing their prime age is the question. Let’s see how it works as everyone is eyeing on that seat.
