Sunny Leone in BBC’s 100 Most Influential Women

Porn star turned Bollywood actress Sunny Leone has got a rare achievement. She has been named in the ‘100 Most Influential Women 2016’ list charted out by BBC. Four other Indian women, including a computer engineering student, a tractor company owner, an environmentalist and an activist were also on the list. With this, the total number of Indian women who made into the list is 5.

The other Indians on the list include Gouri Chindarkar from Sangli in Maharashtra, Mallika Srinivasan from Chennai, Neha Singh from Mumbai and Saalumarada Thimmakka from Karnataka.

Thimmakka from Karnataka is the oldest woman on the BBC list. She is 105-yr-old. She has planted more than 8,000 trees in 80 years. This project began after she was mocked for not being able to have children. Gouri is a 20-year-old computer engineering student who was one of the first children in India to learn from what is now known as the ‘School in the Cloud’, a network managed by Sugata Mitra where students collaborate over the internet to learn a variety of topics.

57-yr-old Mallika, known as the “tractor queen” of India, is the Chief Executive Officer of Tractors and Farm Equipment, the 3rd largest manufacturer of tractors in the world.
