A Real Officer Behind Nagarjuna’s Officer

All the while it is giving a feeling that Nagarjuna’s “Officer: is just a fictitious story crafted by Ram Gopal Varma with his dried up creative juices. And the badly cut trailer hasn’t created any interest in the movie. But there seems like a real connection for Nag’s role which sounds pretty interesting now.

RGV himself revealed that the role played by Nagarjuna is inspired by K Mallikarjuna Prasanna, the 2000 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer. “The Story of Nagarjuna’s OFFICER is based upon a true life IPS officer K M Prasanna from Karnataka, who was appointed as the chief of a SIT (Special Investigation Team) to investigate a highly reputed cop in Mumbai,” says Varma.

A little dig into the history reveals that Prasanna is the head of SIT that investigated the 2006 fake encounter of Ram Narayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya, an aide of mafia don Chhota Rajan. And that highly reputed top cop who was accused of the fake encounter is none other than encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma, who has credits for gunning down more than 100 criminals. That explains the trailer of “Officer” completely, filling all the loopholes in fiction part.

Well, so far we have seen many films based on the life of Pradeep Sharma including that of Ab Tak Chappan, Golimaar and others. Now it looks like Varma is going forward a bit in the timeline. Hope this reality connect helps him come up with a sensible product that works at the box office.
